Have
a garage sale. Give yourself plenty of lead
time to gather merchandise for your garage sale.
Start weeks, even months, beforehand and sort
through all your closets, drawers and boxes. Do
you really need every utensil in your kitchen or
all the
Christmas decorations in your attic? Include
your basement, attic and garage in the search
and have as complete a sale as you can. Offering
both volume and variety of merchandise will
attract shoppers as well as bring in the most
income. Find Free Packing Materials: By
doing a quick search on sites like Craigslist
and Freecycle, you can find lots of packing
materials for free. People are very happy to see
you show up to take away all their empty boxes
and left over bubble wrap. You can never have
enough newspapers ... you need these for packing
your dishes and other breakable items. Go to the
recycle bins and get some. Go to the local
bookstore and ask if you can raid their
cardboard dumpster. These boxes are usually
medium sized, sturdy and are easy to carry when
packed. Go to the grocery store for banana
boxes. They are a great size, the top fits down
completely over the bottom and they have
handles! This is a great way to save money and
recycle perfectly usable goods.
